What are your thoughts about global warming?

shawna asked:

I’m doing a research project in school on global warming (and how it’s effecting wildlife), and I would just like to know what you people think about it.

Do you believe it is real, or just another stage that the earth is going through? Please support your opinions.

Do you think that people these days are knowledgeable about what is going on with it, or do you think that people know but just don’t care?

The population of chinstrap penguins has decreased about 60% over the years because the krill that they feed off of live under a layer of ice, and since the earth is warming and the ice is melting, the krill population is declining.

Polar bears may be added to the endangered species list because their habitat is melting away.

Reindeer are moving south because they cannot get to the grass up north anymore because of freezing rain.

Also, if you have any ideas on how to help global warming, please feel free to add a possible solution or two to your answer. Thank you!

What does everyone think about global warming and using non-fossil fuel cars?

Almost everyone has accepted global warming. What do you think about car companies creating electric cars and cars that run on water vapor? An improvement? A disaster?

What % of global warming is caused by humans and what % is caused by natural baseline fluctuation?

brahmaputra_zarathustra asked:

My understanding is that global temps are not fixed—they aren’t steady and averages change naturally over time. So if global warming over the past century has been proven to be caused by human CO2 production, this must mean that scientists have a good idea of what the current natural global fluctuation rate must be. That’s what I want to know. Not to sound rude but please just answer this specific question and provide a reference/link. No political comments or going off on tangents.

If global warming is already causing an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, heat waves, hurricanes, and tornados and other consequences include higher or lower agricultural yields, glacial retreat, reduced summer stream flows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors already what else can come next?

I rent an apartment, so I cannot make major changes. What changes can I make in my lifestyle and home to stop global warming? Does a Prius make a difference? Is there any way to save water or reuse grey water, even though I cannot divert drains? How about energy saving?

What is the deal with the global warming sceptics who actually have academic credentials?

AJ asked:

I’m fully in agreement with the idea that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the cause of global warming. I’m still amazed that there are reputable scientists out there that continue to cast doubt about what is no longer debatable. I’m not interested in hearing from more sceptics…I already know your talking points. I’d like to hear from the more astute among you who actually know what you’re talking about. What’s the dealio with these rebels? Are they true believers or simply pathological contrarians?

What would you do to reduce global warming?

azimuth_nadir asked:

Scientists all the over the world mostly agree on one thing That Global warming is the sole reason for violent changes in climates for the past few years and for the foreseeable future. And we know that all the governments with americans leading the pack, would do nothing to stop it or even acknowledge it. What would you do or suggest so that we as a single human being can reduce the effect?

As for me, I try and take the public transport whenever possible. Use Bicycle when I need to travel less than 2 kms. Reduce electricity consumption in my home to optimum levels.

I would like to invite more suggestions on this topic.
